What is the difference between Time Warner Cable Business Class and DSL ?
DSL service speeds are distance sensitive—which ultimately means that obtaining fast speeds depends on how close you are to their central office. However, with Time Warner Cable Business Class, distance does not matter. Your service will be fast and reliable no matter how far away you are from Time Warner Cable’s offices.
Another major difference between Time Warner Cable Business Class and DSL is installation. Installation with DSL can range anywhere from several weeks to several months. Time Warner Cable Business Class, on the other hand, can be installed within five business days at a serviceable address.
Furthermore, one of our most valuable assets is reliability. Time Warner Cable Business Class Internet solutions are delivered over Time Warner Cable’s proven and dependable fiber-optic network. Cable modem-based high-speed Internet access is less complex than DSL or a T1 line, easier and less costly to expand, and provides the fastest speed at the best value for your business dollar. Additionally, with the stability of AOL Time Warner behind us, you can be assured that your Internet access is here to stay. Return to top
2.
Do I need a second phone line installed to use Time Warner Cable Business Class?
No. Time Warner Cable Business Class runs through a cable line, not the phone lines. Return to top
3. Is Time Warner Cable Business Class secure?
Time Warner Cable Business Class’ high-speed network is no less secure than any other Internet Protocol (IP) network. Because of this, we recommend that you install a firewall to protect your computer(s) from intruders/hackers. For more advanced security, we also offer a Managed Security service that combines a virtual private network and a hardware firewall to provide the ultimate protection for your business. 6. I have more than one computer at my business. Will Time Warner Cable Business Class network them for me?
No. We currently do not provide networking services. You will need to contact a networking company. Return to top

9. What is the difference between a Static IP and a Dynamic IP?
Dynamic IPs are always changing because they are renewed every time you restart your system. At restart, an IP address is assigned from a pool of available Dynamic IPs in the Time Warner Cable Business Class system.
Static IPs are assigned specifically to each customer that purchases them. The IP address will never change no matter how often a system is restarted. This is essential if you are running a web server, mail server, or any piece of equipment that needs to have the same IP address every time you access it. Return to top
10. How do I know if I need a Static IP or a Dynamic IP?
If you only use your Internet connection at work and do not need outside users to access your internal systems, a Dynamic IP should suit your business needs. However, if other employees need to have access to your system when they are not at work, you will need a Static IP. You will need a Static IP if you are running an e-mail, web hosting, or other applications server that needs to be reached by people outside of your company. Time Warner Cable Business Class includes a Static IP in all of its higher-bandwidth service tiers, beginning at 1.5 x 1.5 mb/s.

11. Can customers/employees watch television and use Time Warner Cable Business Class at the same time?
Absolutely. Time Warner Cable Business Class service sends and receives data from your cable modem/router by using a different group of cable frequencies than those utilized for television signals. In addition, multiple televisions and computers can also be serviced through the same cable line. Return to top
12. Can other cable modem users see the data I send and receive?
No. Firstly, while it is true that Time Warner Cable Business Class uses a common channel for downstream Internet traffic to all the cable modems in your neighborhood, every byte is protected by the widely-used DES encryption algorithm designed by our government. Secondly, data sent from your computer to the Internet is never sent to other cable modems in your neighborhood.
You should always be careful when sending sensitive information over any Internet connection. For maximized security, check your web browser’s configuration to implement encryption for your files.
